LEAD PROJECT ENGINEER (ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER LEVEL) – DUBLIN
Salary Guide – to €75,000 + Package
CapEx are recruiting on behalf of an Engineering Services Co have a track record of delivering many of Irelands major infrastructural projects, currently looking for a Lead Project Engineer for the Projects Management Office.
The company is responsible for the Operation and Maintenance of major road infrastructure projects including Toll Infrastructure, Traffic Management, Infrastructure Safety Management, Emergency and Contingency Planning, Equipment and Infrastructure Inspection and Maintenance.
The company is based in Dublin with operations nationwide and a network of international offices, having recently redeveloped their offices with state of the art facilities.
The company is due to start a major upgrade of Electrical infrastructure on one of their high profile assets, in addition to a number of ITS and civils upgrades and part of their capital & maintenance works programme managed by the Projects Management Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the Projects Mgmt Office Dept. Head Principal Project Engineer, the Lead Project Engineer will assist in managing the Project Engineering Team, assign tasks, and oversee engineering development on individual projects.
- Identifying project stages and determining necessary controls, taking into account any constraint or conflict with company’s normal day-to-day activities and other projects, and proposing solutions to manage / mitigate these conflicts.
- Responsible for managing progress, constraints and budget and reporting to the PMO Head of Department on individual projects on a daily basis.
- Liaise with the Project Manager and Principal Project Engineer to ensure compliance with the Procurement procedures.
- Ensuring performance monitoring of subcontractor and suppliers in compliance with the Company Contractors Plan,
- Working with the System Owner on producing and developing the project documentation, feasibility study, URS, scope of works, AutoCAD drawings and tender documents.
- Managing and reviewing the Project Engineers documentation including, Proposal documents, Drawing Production, Technical Submittal.
- Ensuring compliance and Implementation of Project procedures, processes and relevant legislation.
- Ensuring Projects are brought in on time and on budget.
- Interrogate the project design and identify Value Engineering Solutions
- Working with the System Owner on producing and developing the project documentation, feasibility study, URS, scope of works, AutoCAD drawings and tender documents.
- Contact for field construction activities, coordinate multiple teams for the installation
- Carrying out project work and engineering studies as necessary, Market research for possible engineering solutions. Preparation of Feasibility studies and outline scheme designs
- Ensuring compliance Contractor documentation (Method Statements, Temporary Traffic Management Plans, staff training records, induction records, CSCS cards etc.)
- Ensuring delivery of all necessary design and O&M documentation.
- Keeping records of how their time is spent on the various Projects they are assigned to.
- Ensuring the Engineering Change Control procedure is adhered to. Design and/or development documented information is retained and managing change in design and/or development,
- Comply with requirements of the company’s Integrated Management System
- Ensuring Task Orders which involve design and/or development, ensures that they the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard,
- Review, verification and validation processes are in place as necessary, ensuring Problems identified through review and verification are resolved
- Ensuring that the project has been completed as planned and as per the requirements
- Ensures that information security objectives are included in the project objectives and that information security risk assessment is conducted at the planning stage of the project to identify all necessary and relevant controls
- Ensures that information security is a part of all phases of the project methodology
- Apply the Health and Safety rules and comply with any internal rules in force in the company.
Ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:
Qualifications and experience
- Degree qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
- Strong technical ability in all aspects of Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- Minimum 8-10 years’ previous experience within the construction industry is desirable
- Knowledge & experience of current EN and IEC Standards
- Knowledge & experience of NEN Standards is advantageous
- Experience in Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD and MS Office Suite Software and other engineering packages
- Excellent level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Project team management experience demonstrating successful delivery of large projects
- Excellent knowledge in Auto Cad, MS Office and MS Project.
- Excellent reporting, financial management and communicational skills
- Driven to succeed, ability to work on own initiative
- Full clean driver’s license
Experience in any of the following areas is a distinct advantage:
- Road infrastructure projects & Intelligent Traffic Systems
- Building management systems
- Facilities management
- Experience in a mixed IT, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering environment
