Capex have been retained for a progressive specialist contractor / manufacturer based in the Midlands area. The company is centrally located accessible to those based in the Midlands, Western or Northeast regions
Reporting to the Head of Design and Engineering, the Junior Steel Detailer works with the agreed architectural models and layouts to create the steel frame and sheathing model, co-ordinating this with the other models and once signed off issuing manufacturing and installation information for the factory and site teams. Working in the Head Office in The Midlands
The Role:
- Working with the frozen architectural model and plans to create a Vertex architectural model, splitting the project into panels in the Vertex software.
- Generating the framing model from this ensuring that member specifications are in line with the structural engineers schematics and calculations.
- Generating the sheathing layers in the model in line with the architectural details and specifications.
- Reviewing and checking connections and junctions ensuring these are in line with details and specification, and considering all elements from a manufacturing/buildability perspective.
- Co-ordinating the steel and sheathing with other models – As-Builts, M&E etc.
- Liaising with the design team.
- Working in a common data environment (BIM 360 and the Autodesk Construction Cloud), along with its processes, workflows, procedures and security and ensuring its integrity.
- Producing and issuing production workshop drawings in a timely manner in line with the Design Deliverable Schedule.
- Liaising with the production team around any queries or clarity required and carrying out periodic design inspections on the factory floor.
- Producing and issuing installation drawings in a timely manner in line with the Design Deliverable Schedule.
- Liaising with the installation team around any queries or clarity required.
- Visiting sites to check progress and inspect works.
The Person:
- Degree Qualified
- Experience working in a 3D environment
- Proficiency in Vertex, Revit or Navis Works would be advantageous.
- Architectural/Construction knowledge would be advantageous
