Capex is recruiting on behalf of a Large Main Contractor who is growing their team based on recent expansion and recruiting a Safety Officer.
Our client requires a Safety Officer (Minimum 3 years experience) to assist in the safety management of a Large Pharma Project in the Midwest area. This project is in the early stages and would be perfect for an experienced Safety Officer to gain vital exposure in large scale projects to excel in their career.
Reporting to the EHS Manager, the successful candidate will be involved in developing, monitoring and implementing the company’s HSEQ policy.
The Role:
- Implement the company’s health, safety, quality and environmental policy, procedures, and management systems.
- Advising & assisting site management in drafting and communicating Method Statements, Safe Plans of Action and Tool Box Talks.
- Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all health & safety matters to management, safety representatives and employees.
- Delivering Health & Safety induction programmes for new employees.
- Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior company management. Strict follow-up is required to ensure that actions are dealt with immediately.
- Ensure that all accidents are reported, recorded and investigated and that suitable notification is given to the Directors, Health & Safety Authority and Insurers as required.
- Compiling relevant information for inclusion in the Safety File and preparing for handover to the Client at the end of the project.
- Chairing EHS meetings on a weekly basis.
- Promote the Company mission of being a healthy and incident and injury free workplace
The Person:
- Hold a relevant Qualification
- 3-4 years’ experience in a similar role
- Exposure to Civils and Utilities Projects.
- Excellent IT skills and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Good time management and organisation skills
- Ability and Willingness to work on own initiative but also capable of working as part of a team
- Ability to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environment
- Ability to demonstrate building strong working relationships & stakeholder management
