Capex is recruiting on behalf of a Large Industrial Facility who is growing their team based on recent expansion and recruiting a Health & Safety Specialist.
The purpose of the job is to ensure the region maintains a good level of compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes the compliance of all conditions of the various industrial emissions or radiological licences in place for the business.
To ensure that environmental issues are reviewed, evaluated and reported as necessary to ensure environmental compliance and business continuation.
To be a part of a team to provide QESH assistance and direction. To have detailed knowledge on planning permission requirements (Strategic Infrastructure), industrial emissions licence amendments, reviews and ongoing licence compliance (e.g. dealing with and following up on EPA audits, internal opportunities for improvement or corrective action).
This would include liaising with authorities, site staff, construction workers amongst others.
The Role:
- Ensure all your team are aware of the needs for a high safety culture in all activities
- Ensure all activities and behaviours are completed to a high safety standard
- Ensure Risk assessments are completed and constantly updated
- Use LSS approach in solving problems (DMAIC) and Route Cause Analysis (RCS)
- Ensure you utilise the region’s Management System efficiently including OFIs, CARs, Incidents and Customer Complaints
- Implementing systems for the compliance with licence requirements
- Review environmental data in line with licence conditions and if there are any abnormalities consult with operations/production

The Person:
- Degree or higher in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering or Chemistry
- 3-5 Years’ experience in an Environmental role similar to EHS roles in IPPC/Waste/IED licenced facility
- Working with a Waste/Industrial Emissions Licence
- Capable of reviewing engineering documents e.g. PID, PFD, Hazop, Hazid
